Lumineers
What are Lumineers?
Lumineers are a thinner veneer that can be placed over the front teeth. Lumineers are ideal for patients who are unhappy with the overall look and feel of their smile. Your front teeth might be stained, discolored, chipped, cracked or unevenly spaced. Rather than compromise the tooth with traditional veneers, Lumineers require little no filing of enamel to fit the new restorations.
Why are Lumineers needed?
Lumineers can be helpful in providing you with a full and healthy smile when you’re unhappy with the way that you look. Lumineers can cover up minor imperfections and flaws. These include:
- Cracks
- Chips
- Discoloration
- Stains
- Spaces and gaps
- Jagged-looking teeth
Who is a candidate for Lumineers?
Most patients who have otherwise healthy teeth are good candidates for Lumineers. We can examine your smile to ensure your front teeth are free of decay and other dental problems. Lumineers are best suited to adult patients who are looking for a quick and noninvasive way to transform their smile. These thin veneers can last for about 10 years before needing replacement.
What happens during the Lumineer process?
The first step is taking impressions of your teeth. These impressions are used to make the actual Lumineers. Little to no filing of your existing teeth is required. This means that the Lumineers can be removed at any time and your teeth underneath are not damaged or compromised. The Lumineers are then adhered to the fronts of your teeth and filed into place. They look completely natural and blend in well with your existing smile. You will be shocked at just how different you look once the Lumineers have been applied to your own teeth. You can treat these new veneers as you would your normal teeth. We can check on them at each and every one of your checkup appointments to make sure they still look good and are securely on the teeth without problems.
